Rohit Sharma, India captain: “In life, we all keep moving forward, and at some point, you work with different people. When Rahul [Dravid] bhai said he was done, we had a fantastic time together, but life moves on, and as a team, we had to move forward too. With Gautam Gambhir… I’ve played with him before, and I know his mindset. It’s still early days, but it’s been fruitful so far. To be honest, we had to think a lot about how to keep the game moving. When we came on day four, we wanted to get them [Bangladesh] out as quickly as possible and see what we could do with the bat. It wasn’t just about the runs; it was about how many overs we could bowl at them. The pitch didn’t offer much for the bowlers, but getting a result from that pitch was a great effort by the bowlers. The batters were willing to take risks, and we were ready to give ourselves a chance at a win. Akash has been great, and he’s played a lot of domestic cricket. He’s got enough overs in his legs, and he’s doing what the team needs him to do. He can bowl long spells, and we want to build a group of bowlers who are always ready to play Test cricket. If someone gets injured, we should be able to replace them seamlessly.”
